Year 1 2021 - 2022
Welcome to Year 1!
Our Year 1 children transition from Reception, where there is a focus on learning through play, as we get them ready for Year 2! In Year 1 you can expect lots of excitement, experiments, finding out new things and a developing emphasis on Reading, Writing and Maths.
Who will you meet?
There are three Year 1 classes and these are taught by Miss Chapman (1BC), Mrs Berkeley (1VB) and Miss Marshall (1CM). Other adults that support Year 1 are Mrs Clarke, Mrs Kinsella, Miss Cunningham and Mrs Clarke .
Our Autumn Term Topic: Toy Story
In the files section you will find the Year 1 Age Related Expectations for Reading, Writing and Maths. High frequency and common exception words that the children are expected to read and write by the end of the year can also be found within this section. We have also uploaded Mathematics activities that you may wish to do with your child at home. These are related to reasoning and problem solving, an important aspect of the National Curriculum for all year groups.
IYou may find some of the Phonics and Maths based websites below particularly useful and fun to share with your children!
