Aspirations Week

Each year, Oak Tree holds a week long projet called Asporations Week. There are two main foci:

1. To raise the profile of personal qualities such as resilience, team work, determination, focus and drive.

2. To ecnourage children to think about how they will contribute to their local and wider community when they are older - both through paid and voluntary work

Over teh eyars that we have run this project, Oak Tree have been lucky to have some inspirational speakers coming into school to talk to all year groups about their chosen careers. This not only provided us with some ideas for our future careers, but also showed us ways in which we can be vaulable and responsible members of society. It motivated us to think about our learning behaviours and how we can apply these across the whole curriculum.

Below are PowerPoint PDFs of the various presentations and also some images from the week. We hope that you enjoy reading and looking through them as much as we did!

Ms Young talked to Y1 and Y3 about her role in the British Army as well as her job as a physiotherapist. She then spoke to a large group of Y5 and 6 children about her time serving in the British Army, answering their questions and providing them with an insight into that career route. The questions were very insightful and the children commented on the knowledge they gained from the session - I think that Oak Tree has a few budding military service members now!
