Oak Tree Book Making Competition 2020

February 2020 sees the very first Oak Tree Book Making Competition!

There have been 170 entries across the school and over the half term holidays,

Mr Holt has been busy reading every one!

Children from Reception through to Year 6 have entered.

Children could choose to handwrite or type their book.

Some chose to work alone, while others paired up!

Some chose to write a story, while others wrote fact books.

And of course, the artwork across the school was fantastic!

In the first week back after the half-term break, all entrants recieved a certificate to commerorate their achievement in a whole school assembly.

The winner from each year group was then announced.

At the end of the week, the winners headed off to Simply Books in Bramhall to choose their prize and decide which new books we should have for the 100 Book Challenge! ...

We spent a good while choosing a book for ourselves ...

Before we settled down to have a read with a lovely cup of hot chocolate!

We then set about the important job of choosing three books each for the school ...

Finally, we had the treat of meeting a published author - Michelle Robinson!

(author of The Day The Banana Went Bad)

She was kind enough to sign our copy of her book too!

All in all, it was a fantastic day!

We all look forward to the Oak Tree Book Making Competition 2021 :)

If you would like to read some of the great books that the children created, feel free to venture down to the display near the school office!
