ASSESSMENT

Children are assessed regularly and at least every half term, using the Little Wandle Assessments. From here plans can be made to revisit certain GPCs or Tricky Words and children are matched to the correct level of reading book.

In Reception, regular assessment of GPCs and skills in decoding words are used to identify next steps, so children can be supported daily to improve their phonics decoding skills and retain sounds.

In Year One and Two (and in Summer Term of Reception) we use the Phonics Screening checks to assess children's decoding skills.
