Oak Tree Primary School

Speech and Language

At Oak Tree we have several Speech, Language and Communication interventions that are delivered across the Key Stages.

WellComm is a speech and language toolkit that can be used with children from 6 months to 6 years of age. It is a means of tracking progress of all children and will identify areas of concern in language, communication and interaction.

Speech Link is a multimedia package typically designed to help support children from 4-8 years with speech sound difficulties.

Language Link is a multimedia package typically designed to help support with understanding of language and concepts. We have both Infant and Junior Language Link.

Please see the attached information guides for further information.

If your child has more complex needs, school is supported by the NHS School Age Complex Team.

Additionally, we are fortunate to have a 'Buy Back' Speech and Language Therapist in school one day per week. Tamsin Whitehurst is an NHS Speech and Language Therapist who works with children who have already received the NHS core offer.

If your child has an identified need in this area, with your permission, Mrs Whitehurst will assess your child, write a programme which is delivered in school. You will also receive a copy to support your child at home.

Mrs Whitehurst also delivers staff training to ensure that programmes are delivered in the right manner.

If you have concerns about your child's Speech and Language, please share these with your child's class teacher in the first instance.
