Spring Term
Spring One:
This half term, our newly elected communication team members settled into their role. In order to become a communication team member, pupils had to apply using a job application sheet. They had to specify what sort of person they are, why they wanted the role and why they would be great for the job! They then had to deliver their speech to their whole class, who then voted on their preferred council member. There were countless applications and each applicant did so well, it was really hard to choose just two per class!
Well done to our newly appointed communication team members - we know you will help to make such a great difference to our school and allow all pupils to have a voice!
This half term, we began our class meetings. These are held fortnightly and give all pupils a chance to vote democratically on a variety of topics. We asked the pupils how they would like to spend the morrisons 'Good to Grow' vouchers, the pupils voted to purchase a new insect and bug house for our woodland area (we actually were able to get that and the hedgehog house as our families were so incredible at getting us points to spend!).
Spring Two:
This half term, our communication team have been busy launching our new Re:uniform event! They have been fantastic at collecting up the donated uniform and sorting it into different sizes. They have played a huge role in setting up our stalls, from creating labels, organising the items, making donation signs and welcoming families in!
This half term, our key class meeting questions aimed to find out more about the different religions in our school and how important prayer was to the Oak Tree pupils. We also asked how the different classes would like to improve our school grounds, we had some incredible suggestions - all of which are discussed in communication team meetings so we can select our main focus for the term.
