SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at Oak Tree Primary School.
Welcome to Oak Tree Primary School SEND page. We value every child as an individual and recognise that all children, whatever additional needs they may have, they can achieve and be successful. We are committed to providing an environment for learning for each pupil and fully inclusive teaching for all. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum for all our children to reach their full potential. We pride ourselves in offering the best possible learning opportunities for all children through our Adaptive Teaching Approach.
We encourage in all members of our school community, a code of positive behaviour, which promotes an understanding of the needs of others. We believe that every child should feel able to make a valued contribution to school life in order that self-esteem can develop.
Oak Tree Primary School will make provision for pupils with the following 4 kinds of need as identified in the 2014 Code of Practice:
- Cognition and learning:
Specific learning difficulties including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, moderate learning difficulties/global learning delay.
- Physical and sensory:
Hearing impaired, visually impaired, motor difficulties or physical impairment.
- Communication and interaction:
Children with speech language and communication needs and children with Autism.
- Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH):
ADHD, ADD, attachment disorder, emotional difficulties and mental health difficulties.
We recognise that some of our children may require 'additional to and different from' provision in any number of the above areas of need. Regardless of level of need, from mild learning difficulties all the way through to those children with needs that are more complex, we work hard to intervene at an early stage (early intervention) to ensure our children receive the right support at the right time.
For more information please take the time to read our SEND Information Report and Policy.
If you have any questions regarding SEND at Oak Tree or would like to discuss our provision, please contact the office or our SENDCo Mrs Elaine Merrick
