Oak Tree Primary School

Whole School Overview

In line with the school’s approach to the wider curriculum delivery, ‘Beliefs, Values and Worldviews’ is enquiry based. Each term’s learning is posed to the children in the form of a question, which aims to challenge their thinking. These questions have been carefully selected from the Stockport syllabus and organised onto a long term plan to ensure learning is progressive and builds on previous knowledge and skills to help the children learn more and remember more over time.

In the EYFS, children learn about ‘Beliefs, Values and Worldviews through their ‘Personal, Social and Emotional’ development and their ‘Understanding of the World’. High quality continuous provision activities, discussions during discrete carpet sessions and incidental conversations eg during story time, all provide the opportunities for teaching beliefs, values and worldviews. Reception also follow the locally agreed syllabus of work to ensure progression and transition into KS1.
