These documents show progression in texts used across the school. Books are linked to the 9 protected characteristics.

They show all areas of reading:

- For all year groups, they show focus texts to be covered in Literacy, home time readers and key texts in class reading corners. 

- In KS2 the overview shows the books to be used in Whole class reading, however this is not the case in EYFS and KS1, as books are linked to the children's phonetic knowledge. Until children are confident readers, they  need to be given regular opportunities to apply the phonics they have learned to reading fully decodable books.  Their reading practice session focus on three key reading skills: 

• decoding 

• prosody – reading with meaning, stress and intonation 

• comprehension – understanding the text.
