Visit 1
For our first visit, a group of keen, Year 5 journalists, selected from newspaper club, visited Cheadle Manor, accompanied by Miss Sant and Miss Grimshaw. The pupils were prepped with a multitude of questions they could ask the residents and our theme was ‘all about World War 11’, as the pupils had been learning all about this as part of their history topic. The children settled in incredibly quickly, each paired with a resident that they began to connect with almost instantly. It was wonderful to hear the pupils ask insightful questions to the residents, while actively listening to the experiences and stories that were told to them. The pupils engaged brilliantly with a variety of residents and it was lovely to hear conversations that had blossomed that were not just about the war. Our pupils spoke enthusiastically and wholeheartedly about their experience at the care home. There was an added bonus too as we met and interviewed one of the referees for Stockport County!
