Oak Tree Primary School has been actively involved in initial teacher education (ITE) since opening in 2015. We are part of the University of Manchester's PGCE Stockport cluster as well as the Hursthead Junior School Alliance for School Direct. We liaise regularly with tutors at the University of Manchester and Hursthead Junior School to allocate teaching placements at schools across Stockport and south Manchester. In addition, Oak Tree Primary School hosts trainees on placements, and we and other schools in our cluster run additional training sessions on a range of areas for our allocated trainees.

At Oak Tree Primary School, we have a long track record of successfully supporting those embarking on their teaching career. We believe strongly that graduates who choose teaching as their profession should be provided with the highest quality training, support and encouragement. We have a very experienced, enthusiastic and talented teaching staff at our school, and enjoy sharing this expertise with the next generation of teachers. Working with trainee teachers has brought many benefits to our school, not least talented new teachers to join our teaching staff!
